We want to remember the heart of the story, and to give it the priority attention that it deserves, always!
In Jesus Christ, God came here, into our lives and world! He did and said things that only God could do. Humans didn’t understand, but that didn’t stop Him from reaching to us anyway, and showing us anyway, and trying to help us anyway.
In this series, we will look not only at the last events of Jesus’ time among us in this world (the “passion” of the Christ), but also at the “heart” of the Christ. What was going on around Him? Why did He respond as He did? What was God doing? What does that have to do with us, in our lives, now?
In what happened to Jesus Christ, humans did the very worst we can do – and in response, God did the very best that He can do!
Ultimately, that is what makes Jesus Christ different from all other teachers.
Jesus’ earliest followers could deal with a dead Christ. The challenge was to live with the Living One! We can easily put Jesus into the past, in the same kind of way. But the challenge is to live with the Living One!
